Our approach

PrintScout uses essential storage that the website needs to work. We only use analytics cookies if you agree. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept Google Analytics. "Reject analytics" is just as easy as accepting, and the site works the same either way.

Google Analytics (optional)

If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<id>, which normally last up to two years. They help us see which pages are used, how people find us and roughly where visitors are (for example, a town or city). Google, as a third party, collects this information. We don't send it your name, contact details or job details, and it doesn't tell us who you are.

Until you accept, the Google Analytics script isn't loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

Cookie-free visit statistics

Our website host also counts visits (pages, approximate country, device and referring site) without using cookies. These statistics are aggregated and don't identify you.

Printer sign-in

When a printer or administrator signs in, your browser's local storage keeps you signed in. It is only used in the printer area and is removed when you sign out.

Visit code

Your browser keeps a random code while the tab is open, so the same visit isn't counted twice in a printer's listing statistics. It is not linked to you and is cleared when you close the tab.

Enquiry safeguards and your choice

While a tab is open, your browser also keeps a short note of an enquiry you've just sent. This stops it being sent twice if you refresh or tap twice. It is cleared when you close the tab.

We save your analytics choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again on every page.

Changing your mind

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you reject analytics, tracking stops straight away and we delete the Google Analytics cookies we can reach. You can also clear or block site storage in your browser settings. If you do, printer sign-in won't work, but you can still compare printers.
