How PrintScout works

Choose what you want printed, set your quantity and specification, compare participating UK printers and send your job to the one you choose.

1. Tell us what you want printed

Pick a product such as business cards, leaflets or stapled booklets. If you want foiling or lamination, we ask which product it goes on.

2. Choose your quantity and specification

We only show the options that apply, and we explain printing terms as we go. Options that cannot be produced together are hidden automatically.

3. Compare printers

We show each participating printer's price for exactly what you asked for where they have supplied one, how VAT and delivery are treated, the Google rating where available, their location and their estimated delivery time.

4. Send your job to the printer you choose

Send your job details and artwork through PrintScout and you get a reference number. The printer replies to you directly. A few printers also let you order on their own website instead. Either way, the printer handles your order and takes payment, not PrintScout.

How we compare prices

  • We say clearly whether each price includes VAT. Printers who are not VAT registered do not charge VAT, and we show that rather than adding it.
  • Where a printer has given us a delivery charge, we add it to show a total. Where they have not, we say the delivery cost is unknown rather than guessing.
  • We only show an exact price when the printer has supplied one for the specification you chose. Otherwise you can send them your job for a quote.
  • Delivery times are the printer's own estimates and often start from artwork approval rather than from your order.

Who we compare

PrintScout lists printing companies who pay a monthly subscription to appear. That means we do not compare every printer in the UK. We do not take payment for comparison enquiries, charge printers commission, or earn more when you pick one listed printer over another.

PrintScout Direct is different

PrintScout Direct is our own print service. You buy from PrintScout, we arrange printing with a trade print partner, and we are responsible for your order. Request a quote first; nothing is ordered or paid for until you accept our written quote.
